June 2, 2014 (Banff, AB) – The 2014 National Health Leadership Conference issues a challenge to Canada’s health leaders: What will it take to make Canadian healthcare a top performer?

Bold leadership in action is the focus of the conference. The theme, Raising the bar: A critical time for bold leadership, underscores the important role of leadership in creating a quality and sustainable health system. Plenary sessions, poster presentations and concurrent sessions will demonstrate how Canada’s health leaders, organizations and systems are achieving excellence and what can still be done to raise the bar.
Hosted by the Canadian College of Health Leaders and HealthCareCAN, this annual conference is the largest national gathering of health system leaders in Canada, with more than 700 health leaders expected in Banff, Alberta.
Day 1 of the conference focuses on the bold leadership necessary to optimize patient and staff experience and create a culture of efficiency and transformation. Speakers include:
- Dr. Bridget Duffy, Chief Medical Officer, Vocera. Following her popular 2013 NHLC presentation, Dr. Duffy returns to share case studies on bold leaders and the impact they have had on their organizations. Leaders will be inspired to raise the bar and restore the humanity and joy back to health care. Monday, June 2, 09:10 – 10:15
- Laurie Mallery and Paige Moorehouse (Nova Scotia) are co-founders of Palliative and Therapeutic Harmonization (PATH). PATH is an innovative model to improve appropriateness of care and resource allocation across the continuum of care.The PATH model helps clinicians and patients and families reach decisions about medical and surgical interventions, nursing home placement and end-of-life care.
