Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, you will serve as one of two senior vice-presidents at Health Sciences North (HSN), Northern Ontario’s largest hospital belonging to the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario (CAHO).
Research Infosource ranks HSN among Canada’s Top 40 hospitals in terms of research spending. HSN’s excellence has been recognized by the American College of Surgeons’ National Surgical Quality Improvement Program, Cancer Care Ontario and on the Canadian Patient Experiences Survey for Inpatient Care. We are Canada’s largest health information technology (IT) cluster, providing an IT platform to more than 20 hospitals and housing digital imaging for more than 70 hospitals.
You will lead a clinical portfolio of over 2,240 full-time equivalent employees, 500 highly-skilled medical staff, 2,100 learners and 462 beds in 13 sites in Greater Sudbury and in 25 locations in Northeastern Ontario outside Greater Sudbury with a clinical budget exceeding $356 million.
You will accept this role at an exciting time in HSN’s evolution. A new 2019-2024 strategic plan will be approved in January 2019 while a digital health strategy will be finalized in March 2019 and an updated capital master plan will be approved in May 2019.
Your team of direct reports will include the:
- Vice-President and Chief Nursing Executive;
- Vice-President, Cancer and Clinical Support;
- Associate Vice-President, Health Promotion;
- Chief Information Officer;
- Chief Medical Information Officer;
- Director, Quality and Patient Safety.
Minor adjustments may be made to the portfolio based on the profile of the selected candidate.
You will serve as official resource-person of the Quality Committee of the Board of Directors and serve on its Medical Advisory Committee as non-voting member. You will champion readiness for HSN’s 2019 accreditation, the implementation of Board-approved targets in HSN’s annual Quality Improvement Plan and of a proposed regional electronic medical record.
The applications of candidates holding at least a master’s degree in a relevant field and at least 8 years of leadership experience in health care leading clinical staff at the director, associate vice-president, vice-president or CEO level will be considered.
A Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation, experience at the vice-president level in an academic health science centre and bilingualism (English and French) are assets.
