Reporting to the President and CEO, the NSHA’s Vice President, Medicine is responsible for overseeing all medical staffing matters and providing the clinical, operational, strategic, and cultural leadership necessary to deliver high-value medical services across the continuum of care. The Medical Directors of each of NSHA’s management zones will report to the Vice President, who will set the strategic direction for physician recruitment, engagement, privileging, credentialing, and retention across the province. The Vice President will also establish the policies, procedures, and programs necessary to manage medical staff affairs, oversee medical structures, evaluate and execute evidence-based health services plans, direct future physician resource planning, and champion an agenda of constant improvement, innovation, and research.
As the ideal candidate, you are a senior physician leader with significant leadership experience within a complex, multi-site health sciences organization. A highly visible leader, you have proven your ability to authentically engage with, listen to, and foster strong relationships with, a wide variety of stakeholders. Your leadership style has been described as mature, balanced, and thoughtful. You are an adept problem solver who combines strategic orientation and courage of conviction to distill complex, system information into solid organizational decision making.
A seasoned leader, you have the innate ability to lead change and innovation and can work effectively with the executive leadership team to embed excellence and efficiency into patient care and health services. You have a demonstrated understanding of budgets and long-term financial planning, strong human resources capabilities, and the ability to engage, mentor, and empower teams. You will ensure that your mandate to help improve the delivery of health care in Nova Scotia is realized by creating a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and improvement. Your well-developed change management skills will empower your team to achieve the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of NSHA.
