Health Sciences North (HSN) is an academic health sciences centre affiliated with the Health Sciences North Research Institute and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. HSN ranks among Canada’s Top 40 hospitals and is a regional resource and referral centre for over 600,000 residents across northeastern Ontario. We are a 462 bed hospital with over 3,900 employees, over 500 physicians and in 2017/2018 HSN conducted 5,942,633 laboratory tests to meet the complex tertiary clinical needs of HSN and partner hospitals across the region.
Reporting to the Associate-Vice President, Clinical Services you will serve as the Administrative Director, Laboratory and Pathology, leading teams in Phlebotomy, Biochemistry, Cytogenetics, Genomics, Cytopathology, Flow Cytometry, Hematology, Histology & Pathology, Microbiology, Point of Care Testing and Transfusion Medicine. You will be accountable for strategy deployment within a large and comprehensive laboratory environment. You will work collaboratively with physicians, community partners, funding agencies and numerous internal stakeholders to ensure quality and performance goals are met.
The applications of candidates holding at least a Master’s Degree in Health Administration or Business Administration with ten (10) years’ clinical experience working in a Laboratory department within a health care environment and, five (5) of those years’ being in management, will be considered. Applicants with a current certificate or registration in good standing as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the CMLTO are preferred; applicants with a clinical microbiology or clinical biochemistry background are encouraged to apply.
A Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation, experience in an academic health science centre and bilingualism (English and French) are assets.
