Reporting to the Senior Vice-President Academic, the Dean will be accountable for contributing to the academic well-being and growth of the College by providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision, support and direction to the academic chairs, professors, and support staff in the Faculty. The Dean will develop and implement the strategic plan for the Faculty, ensuring it is in line with the College’s Strategic and Academic Plans. Algonquin College plays an integral role in achieving better health for Ontarians by connecting, educating, and informing our community through programming, onsite learning enterprises, and advanced simulation environments. The Dean will ensure the current and future educational needs of students are being met; determine if modification to programs is needed along with introduction of new courses, programs, and delivery modalities; and collaborate with staff to ensure programs reflect the changing landscape and employment needs of the industry.
As a well-qualified candidate, you have a Master’s level degree in a relevant area, and a Ph.D. would be an asset. You bring senior executive experience from within academic health institutes and/or applied research environments and are passionate about student success and education. You have experience working with external partners and maintaining productive working relationships during periods of growth and developments of major projects. A consensus builder, with strong communications and interpersonal skills, you are able to articulate a vision and execute on strategic plans. Your exceptional leadership and change management skills will be highly sought for in this role. You understand the uniqueness of working with a unionized workforce.
