President & Chief Executive Officer

Print-friendly PDF

Vancouver, BC

With a budget of $3.8 billion, 14,000 staff, and 3000 active volunteers, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) provides services along the full continuum of care to 1.25 million residents of British Columbia’s south coast region. VCH has a purpose of coming together as one collective team to deliver an exceptional care experience for all, and those experiences include everything from acute, primary and community care, to mental health and substance abuse support, to long-term and home care and assisted living. In addition, more than 900 principal investigators conduct clinical and discovery research at VCH Research Institute, and VCH has a close partnership with the University of British Columbia and its Faculty of Medicine.

Reporting to the Board Chair, the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) works with the Board of Directors and collaborates closely with the Ministry of Health, Indigenous communities, union representatives and other health authorities to set the strategic direction in alignment with the organization’s values, the effective optimization of resources, and the integration of health equity and cultural safety for the diverse population it serves.

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is committed to reconciliation and working closely with Aboriginal communities to build confidence in a health care system and work diligently to embed cultural safety and humanity within health services for First Nations and Aboriginal people. As a passionate and powerful leader, you will champion VCH’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and ensure it is a recognized diverse and inclusive organization.

As the ideal candidate, you are a highly successful health care leader and relationship builder who is adept at working across the continuum of care delivering comprehensive acute, community and public health for a diverse population. Able to champion people around a common vision and resilient in the face of multiple complex challenges, you are a catalyst for transformational system level change, while honouring the patient-centred focus, collaborative history and proven success of responsive care in the organization across the extensive geography of BC.

Our patients are at the centre of everything we do. This is your opportunity to lead a complex health care organization, grounded in academic responsibilities and partnerships through this pandemic while ensuring VCH’s unique and seamless delivery of health services along the full continuum of care model from acute to community is upheld.

The President & CEO must provide a steady hand and clear leadership, looking strategically towards the future leveraging the opportunities for transformation, shifting models of care to a modern and sustainable approach where it makes sense and influence positive innovation to deliver an integrated systems level exceptional care experience for all.

This is an opportunity to join an organization with an extremely strong foundation that is poised for change. If you are ready to take on this challenge, please forward your résumé and a covering letter to Shelina Esmail and Allison Rzen at www.pfmsearch.com or apply online at the following link: https://pfmsearch.com/executive-opportunity/vancouver-coastal-health-chief-executive-officer/
