The Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM), a francophone non-profit organization (NGO), is a mainstay in the deployment and promotion of knowledge to benefit Canadians’ health, especially that of francophone minority communities. The ISM, created in 2014-15 and inaugurated in 2017, is a unique model based on collaboration between researchers and education specialists, facilitating the knowledge creation-dissemination continuum. Its key areas of focus are research, education and continued professional development, related to the training continuum for healthcare professionals, the organization of healthcare services and the prevention of, screening for and treatment of physical and mental comorbidities. They believe that health should be considered from every aspect – i.e., physical, mental and social well-being. As the term of the current strategic direction (2016-21) draws to a close, a new strategic planning exercise has started.
Against this backdrop, meant to foster the ideal operating climate, the ISM seeks a manager who will take on the role of Associate Vice-President Research and Scientific Director. As a member of the management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for scientific direction at the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM). In keeping with the ISM’s mission, he/she will advocate for and support research that meets the relevant standards of excellence, facilitate integrated interdisciplinary health research and encourage research intended to benefit minority – especially francophone – communities. This person will assume a leadership role in developing research at Hôpital Montfort, while supporting the Chief Executive Officer’s work with the hospital, the Board of Directors and stakeholders at the provincial and national levels.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, inspiring manager with a thorough understanding of research and education issues in a teaching hospital context. As a visionary with an entrepreneurial spirit, he/she is able to plan for the future from both a strategic and tactical perspective. This person will be highly dynamic, resilient, both people- and results-oriented, and able to adapt to new situations. The Associate Vice-President Research and Scientific Director inspires others to push the boundaries of discovery and innovation, and when translating research into marketable products, working in a novel, transparent and collaborative manner. This highly credible and much-respected individual is recognized for his/her integrity and tremendous emotional intelligence, political acumen and outstanding communication skills in both official languages. Impassioned about teaching and research, this person’s influence and inspiring, collaborative leadership will be essential to attaining the ISM’s excellence objectives and encouraging new partnerships.
