Women’s College Hospital acknowledges that the land on which it operates has, for thousands of years, been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and Women’s College Hospital is grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
For more than 100 years Women’s College Hospital has been developing revolutionary advances in healthcare. We continue to build on this rich legacy established by our founders – courageous pioneers who refused to accept the status quo. Today our hospital culture is still shaped by leaders, healthcare providers and community members who break down barriers and push the boundaries of traditional healthcare in the pursuit of equity and excellence for the 21st century.
Women’s College Hospital is an academic hospital and a leader in health for women, health equity and health system solutions. As a fully ambulatory health service organization, ours is also a hospital designed to keep people out of hospital. We are developing ground-breaking innovations that aim to improve the management of chronic disease in the community, including through a focus on virtual care. We advocate for health equity because we know that a healthy society requires a level playing field where everyone has access to timely, high quality, efficient and compassionate care.
In the next great era for Women’s College Hospital, we are building on an ambitious vision – to revolutionize healthcare for a healthier and more equitable world. We are achieving this bold objective as a unified organization, in partnership with our diverse communities – patients, family members, thought leaders, philanthropists, innovators and disruptors in government, community, academia and the private sector.
To accelerate progress on this vision, Women’s College Hospital is seeking a Vice President, Medical Affairs and System Transformation and Lead Medical Executive.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President, Medical Affairs and System Transformation and Lead Medical Executive provides strategic leadership as a constructive and collaborative participant on the Senior Leadership Team and the Medical Advisory Committee. The role encompasses the functions of a Lead Medical Executive; a set of operational responsibilities; and the leadership of the hospital’s strategic focus to harness innovative ideas and empower the collective energies of clinical leaders and staff in achieving the hospital’s aspirations of health system transformations. In addition to the traditional medical leadership and operational functions, this role sits at the intersection of the hospital’s internal innovation work and the external world of health care policy development.
As the ideal candidate, you are a visionary partner to the Board, CEO, Chair of MAC, Department Heads, VP Clinical Programs and the senior team to drive clinical change while engaging physicians and other health care professionals. You possess proven ability to build, nurture and influence productive, collaborative and communicative relationships within, across and outside of our organization. You are deeply committed to and demonstrate a track record of fostering a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion throughout your sphere of influence. Your experience leading within an academic healthcare environment will be evident in your collaborative and results-driven approach to mission-driven, multidisciplinary leadership. A postgraduate degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
Women’s College Hospital is a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto and is committed to fairness and equity in employment and our recruitment and selection practices. We encourage applications from Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities, members of sexual minority groups, members of racialized groups, women and any others who may contribute to the further diversification of our Hospital community. Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the hiring process as outlined in our Access for People with Disabilities policy.
