Working in a dyad partnership with the Senior Medical Director (SMD), the SPO is jointly responsible for facilitating the strategic planning and organization of SHCC services across AHS while providing leadership to develop and implement initiatives that support clinicians across the operational zones in the provision of quality patient-focused health services. You oversee systemic change and program improvement of patient and health needs across the province.
With the SMD, the SPO develops and maintains strong working relationships with Ministries, the public, and internal and external stakeholders to define the vision and establish the practices of a clinical centre of excellence.
Overseeing a budget of $12M, in addition to the oversight of continuing care and homecare contract providers in the amount of $2B, you lead a team of 80+ in the strategic planning and policy areas of Continuing Care and Seniors Health: Capacity Planning and Management, Home Care, Palliative and End of Life Care, Permanent Supportive Housing & Residential Living, Policy, Practice, Access and Case Management, Provincial Quality Management, Clinical Innovation and Practice Supports, and Funding models, Business and Support Services.
A graduate degree in health care management, business administration or a related health care field. A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in an operational/strategic leadership role in clinical services or healthcare operations within a public healthcare system of significant size and complexity, including at least five (5) years’ experience in a senior management role. Experience leading in the continuing care sector within the last three years.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Successful record of achievement as a leader, including experience in leading large multidisciplinary teams and diverse range of functions. A strategic thinker, you take into account long-term goals, assessing options and implications, and have a successful record of developing and implementing strategic and operational plans. An effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing long-term quality services, you have demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including having lead accountability for communicating with health ministries, media, and the public. An authentic and inspiring leader, you have demonstrated capability in leading self, engaging others, developing coalitions, achieving results and bringing about transformational change at a systems level. You display a collaborative leadership style and have the ability to foster a climate of co-operation amongst, and build solid relationships with, your own team, community leaders, public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners.
