March 8, 2023 (Ottawa) – Today, on International Women’s Day, HealthCareCAN is very pleased to recognize and applaud the incredible contributions made by women in advancing our society.
The work of women in healthcare in Canada is fundamental: in conducting ground-breaking health research; as health system leaders; in providing frontline care; in educating and training the next and future generations of healthcare workers; and in countless other ways.
As we salute these incredible – and ongoing – achievements, we also recognize that we must continue to strive to create a more inclusive, equitable and diverse world that eliminates barriers and stereotypes.
We must empower and support women and girls so that they have the opportunity to fulfill their goals, because in fostering these present and future leaders, we help build a strong and vibrant country and world.
So today we honour the accomplishments of women and girls, but in so doing we re-commit to pressing forward and doing more to ensure all women, girls and gender-diverse people have the opportunity to grow, prosper and succeed in whatever endeavour they may choose.
