Reporting to the Executive Director, Nursing, the incumbent has the responsibility, authority and accountability for the clinical, financial, allied health, and personnel management of Watson Lake Community Hospital. The Operations Lead ensures that culturally sensitive, safe, quality, patient- and family-centred care is provided at Watson Lake Community Hospital. The Operations Lead works with all stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure excellent outcomes in the development and implementation of YHC-aligned operational plans for in Watson Lake. The incumbent works closely with colleagues on the Management and Executive Teams to ensure seamless day-to-day operations. This position will also be accountable for supporting and managing the design, implementation and evaluation of programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of all team members. While the main objectives of this position are clinically focused, patient experience is all-encompassing and may require the incumbent to take on a variety of tasks or projects to ensure patients and families have an optimal experience. To excel in this role, the incumbent displays passion and optimism, inspires respect and trust, and provides vision and inspiration to peers and direct reports.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Good knowledge of management methods, techniques and solid management skills
- Strong human resource and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize, coach, mentor and evaluate staff in varied roles
- You are self-aware of own assumptions, values, principles, strengths and limitations
- You engage and support others to foster development, personal goals and encourage a healthy organization
- Sound financial management, and ability to develop and report on the annual operating budget;
- Sound leadership skills and techniques, including knowledge of conflict resolutions skills and techniques;
- Ability to work well with partners;
- Ability to support an interdisciplinary healthcare team;
- Good knowledge of health care and hospital systems
- Ability to be effective in planning, implementing and evaluating change;
- Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment strategies, performance management, and with the administration and interpretation of collective agreements;
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Strong analytical and organization skills;
- Strong computer skills/proficiency;
- Ability to set priorities and to show good judgment;
- Self- motivated and willingness towards continued learning;
- Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Successful completion of a recognized Diploma or Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business, Quality and Risk Management, or other related healthcare profession. Certificate in hospital or health care services administration and/or management, nursing administration, or human resources management.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles preferably in Health Care.
Evidence of data driven decision making and analysis in support of strategic initiative design and implementation.
An equivalent combination of education/training and/or experience may be considered.
Preference will be given to candidates with management experience in a hospital environment, with other management experiences being considered. Additional education in management, financial management, staff development, and Meditech experience would be desired.
