Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI)
The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that celebrates 30 years of providing essential information on Canada’s health systems and the health of Canadians. CIHI has earned the trust of stakeholders as a gatherer, packager, and disseminator of health information. CIHI continues to evolve as both a knowledge leader and a service provider — in tune with health systems’ need while setting the pace on data privacy, security, accessibility, and innovation.
CIHI is seeking its next President & CEO to provide vision and leadership as the Institute continues to advance health data and shape the future of the Canadian health system.
As President & CEO, you will work closely with a skilled team and a committed Board of Directors to continue to adapt CIHI’s priorities so that it remains progressive, innovative and agile in the context of the pan-Canadian Health data strategy, technology innovation and new investments by the Federal and provincial governments in health data and information. You will partner with a diverse array of organizations including the Conference of Federal, Provincial and Territorial Deputy Ministers of Health, Health Canada, Statistics Canada, Canada Health Infoway, and senior health leadership across the country. Building on CIHI’s 30 years of success, you will be a visible, approachable and accessible leader who sets a tone of service excellence and teamwork across CIHI while ensuring the Institute has the talent and skills required to meet current and future need.
As the ideal candidate, you are a highly credible, respected, and dynamic leader who can quickly engender trust and confidence with a complex and evolving group of clients and partners. Highly strategic, creative, and innovative, you are a transformative leader skilled in motivating teams and pushing organizations beyond their comfort zone. You show a commitment to reconciliation and can demonstrate a track record of EDI best practice in leadership. You consistently display diplomacy, maturity and sound judgment and have a record of operational success in large, complex organizations. You have excellent listening and communications skills and are a skilled negotiator and advocate for the translational value of data and informed decision making across the continuum of care. Data literacy and a sound understanding of current and emerging technologies and trends, particularly as it relates to advancements in health data and analytics is a valuable asset, as is sound knowledge of the Canadian health services. Your ability to communicate in both official languages is also an asset, as is experience navigating health policy tables.
