The Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury (CCMHBI) has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Psychologist in the busy Seniors Mental Health Program. Located in Ponoka, the CCMHBI is a state-of-the-art facility with national and international recognition. The specialists and health professionals at the Centre are committed to integrated, multidisciplinary care and treatment ensuring the best outcomes for patients and their families.
The Seniors Mental Health program provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programs for individuals, generally over the age of 65 with a psychiatric illness such as dementia, mood and/or thought disorders. The goal of the Program is to assist each patient to gain his or her optimal level of functioning in preparation for community integration.
Reporting to a Unit Manager, the Psychologist I work in alignment with established standards and directives as a member of the interdisciplinary team. The incumbent is responsible for providing psychological assessments (i.e., cognitive, capacity, and behavioral) treatment, psychotherapy, treatment planning, and consultation services. Psychological assessment includes conducting clinical interviews, determining assessment instruments to administer, and refer to the psychometrist, interpreting psychological data, and preparing reports and correspondence.

Description:
As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities.
You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services.
Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
