It is a dynamic time of growth and transformation for Health PEI epitomized by the adoption of a new and innovative Physician Services Agreement, the establishment of the University of Prince Edward Island’s new Faculty of Medicine, and in the exciting changes being made to the provision of team based primary care through Health PEI’s patient medical homes. It is within this exciting context that Health PEI is seeking its next Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Reporting to Health PEI’s Chief Executive Officer, the CMO is the most senior medical leader in Health PEI, accountable for any matters arising from the organization or operation of the Medical Staff of Health PEI. The CMO provides strategic leadership in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Medical Affairs Office while establishing and implementing the processes for Medical Staff member appointments and the granting of privileges to physicians. The CMO is a key advisor to the CEO and Health PEI’s Executive Leadership, advocating for and maintaining appropriate measures to ensure the quality and safety of services provided by all Medical Staff members.
As an ideal candidate, you bring demonstrable experience in progressive leadership roles acquired in large and complex healthcare environments. Your experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of best practice, quality and safety initiatives is complimented by strong medical and administrative leadership capability. Previous experience in an academic and/or in a rural health setting is an asset. A collaborator who can translate vision to action, you deeply value engagement and bring proven ability in influencing culture and driving results through your outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills. You are a credible, respected and transparent physician leader with extensive experience facilitating successful change and evolution in the provision of inclusive, innovative and person-centered care delivery. The CMO must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island.
