This position has a yearly salary range of $141,734.00 to $177,168.00

The Director Ambulatory Services ensures that culturally sensitive, safe, quality, appropriate patient and family centred care is provided across the Yukon hospital system. The Director works with all stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure excellent outcomes in the development and implementation of YHC-aligned operational plans for the Allied and Outpatient division across all YHC sites. The incumbent works closely with colleagues on the Management and Executive Team to ensure seamless day-to-day operations. This position is also accountable for supporting and managing the design, implementation and evaluation of programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of all team members. While the main objectives of this position are clinically focused, patient experience is all-encompassing and may required the incumbent to take on a variety of tasks or project to ensure patients and family have an optimal experience. To excel in this role, the incumbent displays passion and optimism, inspires respect and trust, and provide vision and inspiration to peers and direct reports.
In collaboration with leaders across the organization, this position implements and promotes a culture of patient centered care which emphasizes outstanding service and compassion.
Ambulatory programs within this portfolio can change over time. At present, this portfolio includes the Visiting Specialist Clinic, Cancer Care, Medical Daycare, Medical Rehabilitation, and the Dietician Program.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Strong knowledge of health care and hospital systems.
- Sound knowledge of professional practices and procedures as outlined by relevant registering bodies;
- Knowledge of Accreditation Canada standards and requirement;
- Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment strategies, performance management and with the administration and interpretation of collective agreements;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
- Self-directed and strong collaboration skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written;
- Ability to lead and work as a member of a multidisciplinary team;
- Ability to develop operating, maintenance and capital budgets, including analysis;
- Ability to develop and achieve operating plans;
- Ability to establish, lead and maintain positive change;
- Ability to deal with multiple complex issues and manage multiple priorities;
- Ability to coach, mentor and develop employees;
- Ability to identify appropriate educational opportunities;
- Strong ability to prepare data sheets, business cases and reports;
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve and make decisions both interdependently and independently and;
- Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.
The successful candidate will have a Healthcare degree in a relevant field/specialty, Five (5) to ten (10) years management experience, preferably within a hospital or healthcare setting. Experience in quality, safety, and/or risk management and experience in leading, coaching and mentoring human resources. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.
Certificates in Trauma Informed Care, Cultural Safety Training, Workplace Violence Prevention Training and in hospital or health care services administration and/or management. Minimum qualification includes experience in strategic planning and development, supervising and budgeting, strong management experience, with track record of successfully planning delivering major organizational projects or programs including financial management, human resource management methods of techniques, and deadline/timeline management are desired.
