Unit Summary
The Medical Affairs department is responsible for overseeing administration for Professional Staff at Hamilton Health Sciences. Medical Affairs works closely with the Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Executive, the Senior Medical Officer, and Physician Chiefs. Medical Affairs supports medical workforce recruitment, credentialing, resource planning/allocation, education, and communication within the hospital. The department supports medical learners at McMaster University Faculty of Health Science (FHS), partnering closely with the leadership of FHS.
This position will support the Cardiac Health and Rehabilitation Program in the Prevention Ambulatory Clinic at the Hamilton General Hospital.
Position Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) will work under the direct supervision of an Attending Physician within a multidisciplinary team in an academic outpatient clinic. The clinic is focused on primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. The Physician Assistant will play a major role in facilitating consistent application of clinical protocols and continuity of care. The Physician Assistant will provide care for the full spectrum of cardiovascular risk factors, and maintain appropriate records as applicable. The Physician Assistant will provide a full range of physician assistant services in accordance with privileges granted, request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated, order diagnostic tests as applicable, prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Qualifications
- Graduate of Physician Assistant Program
- Prior experience in a Cardiology setting an asset
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to promote professional development
- Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated commitment to patient and family-centered care
Proficiency in both Official Languages would be an asset.
